It’s up to you! The water is warm year-round, so many surfers opt to hit the waves without a wetsuit. If you’re going to spend much time around Witch’s Rock where the water is a little cooler, you might want a spring suit or a vest. If you’re planning to surf Costa Rica between December and April, bring a wetsuit in case of upwelling, which can drop water temps down into the low 60sF. Last but not least, a wetsuit can make those dawn patrol sessions a lot more comfortable.
